Meet Our Editor-in-Chief
Welcome to our website! I am so excited to meet and connect with you all.
My name is Janie Tongue. I have always been passionate about hair and fashion which in turn, inspired the launch of my own salon in Winter Park, Florida in 2004.
I have an infectious enthusiasm to help others succeed and through education, creating and managing teams across America, Canada & Puerto Rico, I have created a first-class reputation in the hairdressing industry. On two occasions, I have been selected as an All-Star panellist at The Beacon Awards at the North American Hairstyling Awards in Las Vegas. As a hairdresser, I landed gigs at New York Fashion Week, Intercoiffure in Miami & New York, Hair Shows in Las Vegas and LA which have resulted in passionately working alongside hairdressing icons such as Vivienne Mackinder, Mary Brunetti, Sherri Jessee, Faatemah, Danielle Keisling, Sam Villa and Cherry Barber-Petenbrink to name but a few. I am also an internationally published stylist and I have a passion for Editorial Hair and Hair Extensions. I am the former Director of Education for Aqua Hair Extensions in Fort Lauderdale and today, proudly bring you exciting stories and articles of inspiration, aspiration and self-improvement from our amazing global industry.

Since my recent return to the UK and the onset of the Pandemic, I founded 'Independent Beauty Professional', an online digital magazine for the entrepreneurial mindset which has enjoyed phenomenal worldwide growth since its launch in February 2021. My role as Editor-in-Chief uniquely brings together industry icons and legends who share their life stories to inspire others, education opportunities and business advice and alongside all of that, features individuals just getting started. My most recent accolade was the privilege of being a judge for the Australian Hair Industry Awards in early 2021. I'm told my friendly, fun-loving yet always professional nature is what epitomizes my reputation as one of the most exciting and personable leaders in the beauty industry today.
Meet My Jonty
Please meet the Wind Beneath my Wings, Jonty Olivier.
Jonty was catapulted into the Beauty Industry when we launched our own Salon in 2004. As well as being in charge of marketing for our own business, Jonty started his journey in the industry as a Brand Advocate for a Californian based Wet & Styling line. He quickly gained recognition by teaching with me to Salon Owners and Independents the importance of the business side of the industry.
He managed our own salon as my travelling schedule increased.
Since returning to the UK, Jonty continues to support me with the Independent Beauty Professional as proofreader and more recently, with advertising.
Together we love to celebrate the entrepreneurial mindset and sharing it with you our readers through our inspiring magazine.
